Auricular Acupuncture uses much smaller & thinner needles than those used for body acupuncture. Press seeds are used on small children and those scared of needles.

CONSULTATION

The practitioner will select the appropriate treatment taking into consideration age, lifestyle, general health & the condition being treated after discussing the patients needs.

NEEDLE PLACEMENT

During the Auricular Acupuncture treatment the practitioner inserts 5-7 needles / seeds while you are sitting comfortably in a chair. This is done in tranquil surroundings.

45 MINUTES

The needles stay in for 45 minutes while you are quietly relaxing, perhaps listening to some relaxation music. Many patients fall asleep because they feel so good and relaxed.

RELAXED & CALM

After the session, the needles are removed by the practitioner and you will feel relaxed, peaceful, calm and have a general sense of well being.

POST TREATMENT

Seeds are placed on specific points in the ear. These are worn for a few days after the treatment & the patient is requested to stimulate the points to activate them.

Scientific Proof – Auricular Therapy Weight Loss Case Study

Study Title: The effects of auricular electroacupuncture on obesity in female patients –
a prospective randomized placebo-controlled pilot study. Date: February, 2014

SUMMARY

 


Several studies show a significantly higher weight loss with acupuncture treatment. This is the first prospective, randomized, double-blinded study, testing the effects of auricular electroacupuncture on weight loss in obese female patients. 56 female obese patients (age>18, Body Mass Index, BMI>25) were randomized to receive either auricular acupuncture with electrical stimulation or placebo treatment for four days.

The treatment was performed once a week for a period of six weeks. A follow-up visit was performed after 4 weeks. At each visit body weight, BMI (Body Mass Index) and body fat were

CONCLUSIONS

Relative reduction of body weight was significantly greater in the verum group (-3.73%; CI=-4.70 to -2.76) than in the placebo group (-0.70%; CI=-1.57 to +0.16; p<0.001)There was also a significant reduction of BMI (p<0.001) in the verum group (-3.62%; CI=-4.39 to -2.84) compared to placebo (-0.82%; CI=-1.55 to -0.10; p<0.001).
No patient reported side effects related to acupuncture. Electrical auricular acupuncture could be a safe, additive, non-pharmacological treatment in obese patients.
