Addiction – Auricular therapy is a form of alternative medicine based on the idea that the ear is a microsystem and that the entire body can be treated by stimulation of the surface of the ear exclusively.

We have 15 years experience in auricular therapy and our clients have had some excellent results.  Sessions are booked for an hour per session and we recommend follow up sessions according to individual progress and results.

We provide individual and group session by our highly trained professionals. The procedure is virtually painless and is safe, gentle and a natural way to heal your body.

The sessions are done in a safe and beautiful setting in Faerie Glen Pretoria but we also travel if group bookings are made. We’re looking forward to hearing from you!

ADDICTION TREATMENT PROTOCOL

The NADA protocol helps detoxification, nourishes yin organs, calms and reduces pain involves these 5 points on the ear:
  1. Shenmen (fire – heart)
  2. Sympathetic (earth – autonomic nervous system – spleen and digestion)
  3. Kidney (water)
  4. Liver (wood)
  5. Lung (metal)
Shenmen (or Spirit gate): used for calming and relaxing. The Shenmen point grounds the body and calms the spirit, thus putting the individual into a state of receptivity for treatment. The Shenmen point helps alleviate anxiety, depression, cravings, sleeplessness and body aches and pains. The Shenmen opens the door to our inner awareness and higher power and helps us to relax emotionally and evolve spiritually.

Sympathetic (sympathetic nervous system): used for relieving tension and pain by relaxing the sympathetic nervous system (our fight or flight response) and allowing its counterpart, the parasympathetic system (our ability to relax) to predominate. By treating the sympathetic point we are helping the entire body physically relax.

Kidney: used to strengthen the willpower, release fears and release unwanted toxins. The kidney is the organ that encapsulates the person’s constitution/genetic inheritance as well as the state of one’s current health. It is useful in all chronic problems. A healthy kidney keeps a person balanced physically and psychologically. The kidney governs all of the developmental life phases, from conception through puberty and adulthood to menopause and aging.

Liver: used to detoxify by removing the chemical residues in the body from drugs, alcohol and other environmental toxins. Our liver is the source of our ability to adapt and grow into our environment. It helps us manifest our own sense of direction and purpose and to be fully present with the people in our lives. A healthy liver is associated with more easily resolving anger, frustration and depression, and with keeping both the emotions and the body’s systems moving smoothly.

Lung: used to help respiration, release sadness and grief, as well as for detoxification. Stimulating the Lung point helps strengthen one’s immune system and helps protect the body from disease. It also helps with breathing ailments caused by smoking, colds, flu, and asthma. The Lung point helps the body excrete alcohol and other drugs.

WHAT HAPPENS IN AN ADDICTION TREATMENT?

AURICULAR THERAPY

Auricular Acupuncture uses much smaller & thinner needles than those used for body acupuncture. Press seeds are used on small children and those scared of needles.

CONSULTATION

The practitioner will select the appropriate treatment taking into consideration age, lifestyle, general health & the condition being treated after discussing the patients needs.

NEEDLE PLACEMENT

During the Auricular Acupuncture treatment the practitioner inserts 5-7 needles / seeds while you are sitting comfortably in a chair. This is done in tranquil surroundings.

45 MINUTES

The needles stay in for 45 minutes while you are quietly relaxing, perhaps listening to some relaxation music. Many patients fall asleep because they feel so good and relaxed.

RELAXED & CALM

After the session, the needles are removed by the practitioner and you will feel relaxed, peaceful, calm and have a general sense of well being.

POST TREATMENT

Seeds are placed on specific points in the ear. These are worn for a few days after the treatment & the patient is requested to stimulate the points to activate them.

Your life is more important than you may believe

SCIENTIFIC PROOF - ADDICTION CASE STUDY

Methamphetamine Withdrawal

Study Title: Comparative study on effects between electroacupuncture and auricular acupuncture for methamphetamine withdrawal syndrome. Date: March, 2014

SUMMARY

Ninety male patients of methamphetamine addiction were randomized into an electroacupuncture group, an auricular acupuncture group and a control group, 30 cases in each one. In the electroacupuncture group, Neiguan (PC 6), Shenmen (HT 7), Zusanli (ST 36), Sanyinjiao (SP 6), Jiaji (EX-B 2) at T5 and L2 were selected bilaterally. In the auricular acupuncture group, jiaogan (AH(6a)), shenmen (TF4), fei (CO14) and gan (CO12) were selected unilaterally.

The treatment was given 3 times a week, with 12 treatments total. In the control group, no treatment was applied. Before treatment and after 1, 2, 3 and 4 weeks treatment, the scores of methamphetamine withdrawal syndrome, Hamilton anxiety scale and Hamilton depression scale were measured in each group.

CONCLUSIONS

Both treatment groups showed declines in withdrawal syndrome, anxiety and depression scores in weeks 2, 3 and 4, and in every assessment, treatment groups were significantly lower than control. Electroacupuncture at the body points and auricular acupuncture play a significant therapeutic role in the treatment of methamphetamine withdrawal syndrome, anxiety and depression. The longer time the treatment is with electroacupuncture at the body points, the more obvious the efficacy will be on the above symptoms.*
